Project History Overview

Conant High School Cogeneration (Prime Contract - Hoffman Estates, IL) Installation and field engineering of two 400kW natural gas generators for peak shave and base load parallel operation. Elgin Water Department Backup Power Project (Prime Contract – Elgin, IL) Installation of three 1.25MW diesel generators for back up power at two municipal water treatment plants in Elgin, Illinois. E.C.C. Emergency Electrical Sys. (Prime Contract – Elgin, IL) Installation of one 215kW natural gas generator to enhance the community college’s emergency backup power system. E.C.C. Cogen System – Add Generator #5 (Prime Contract – Elgin, IL) Design and construction management of generator and controls interface to increase the operating capacity of the college’s existing cogeneration system.

Indeck – Rockford Energy Center (Subcontract – Rockford, IL)
Installation and field engineering of electrical work associated with a 334MW [(2) x 167MW] gas turbine peaking plant including construction of approximately one mile of 138kV overhead transmission line and substation. A second phase also included installation of the electrical work associated with adding a third 167MW simple cycle gas turbine generator.

Kaper Estate Cogeneration (Prime Contract – Barrington Hills, IL)
Design/Build of one utility parallel 375kW natural gas generator, 12.47kV distribution loop and utilization voltage transformers throughout a 20 acre, multi-building residential estate.

Lee Energy Center Black Start (Prime Contract – Lee County, IL)
Design/Build of three 1.4 MW diesel generators, 345kV paralleling switchgear and controls integration of fully automated black start modification to black start a 640MW gas turbine peaking plant for Duke Energy. This is the first ever 345kV parallel interconnection for PJM within the ComEd territory.

Niles Township High Schools Cogeneration (Prime Contract - Niles, IL) Design/Build a 1.75MW natural gas generator, controls and paralleling switchgear at each of two township high schools. Rock River Water Reclamation Dist. MV Switchgear Upgrade (Prime Contract – Rockford, IL) Replacement of existing 12.47kV main-tie-main load interrupter switches and utility metering sections with new 12.47kV circuit breakers and utility metering cubicles.

Swedish American Hospital - MV Switchgear Upgrade
(Prime Contract – Rockford, IL)
Design/Build of new medium voltage intelligent switchgear containing two feeder circuit breakers and a tie-breaker (double ended switchgear) that are controlled by programmable relays. These circuit breakers provide automatic switching closed transition between two utility sources for redundant power to the hospital and load sharing between the two sources when both sources are available.
